Book Announcement: The Septuagint (Crossway 2021)

I’m excited to announce this morning my newest book that will hit shelves in early November: The Septuagint: What It Is and Why It Matters, which is being published with Crossway. It’s great to see this project come to fruition. Here are the details.

Some Background

Long-time readers of my blog won’t be all that surprised to see that I co-wrote this book with my colleague, fellow-Cantabridgian, and New Testament alter ego Gregory R. Lanier, who is a professor at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. Greg and I have worked on a number of projects together at this point, all of which relate to the Septuagint. Perhaps the best known is our Septuaginta: A Reader’s Edition (Hendrickson 2018), which was followed by our Book-by-Book Guide to Septuagint Vocabulary (Hendrickson 2019). Alison Salvesen & The Oxford Handbook of the Septuagint

I am pleased to be able to highlight an excellent new resource published this year in the world of Septuagint scholarship, The Oxford Handbook of the Septuagint (Oxford 2021), edited by Alison Salvesen and T. Michael Law. I alluded to this new resource in a post back in April. Readers of this blog will (or should) know about this new resource, which is a boon to the field. (more…)

Summer ’21 Update

It’s been pretty quiet on the blog over the last two months as the chaos of the semester has fizzled out. Now, the summer is heating up, COVID seems to be on the wane (Κύριε ἐλέησον), and new things are on the horizon. So I thought it would be a good time to give a run-down of some of my work over the last academic year, as well as the next handful of things I’m moving on to in months to come.
