Review: Keep up Your Biblical Languages in Two Minutes a Day (Hendrickson)

I have not done a book review on the blog for a while. But a great opportunity came along for a great resource, so here we are.

Just about a month ago Hendrickson Publishers released a new series of volumes produced by Jonathan Kline entitled Keep Up Your Biblical Languages in Two Minutes a Day. You are probably familiar with this publisher even if it’s not a name you immediately recognize. They are perhaps best known for their primary texts, which they produce in cooperation with Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft. For example, they recently produced two high-quality reader’s editions for the OT and NT. They’ve also just printed a very nicely-bound The Complete Hebrew-Greek Bible, which pairs Leningrad with Westcott-Hort for OT and NT texts.

ETS 2017 Septuagint Consultation Review

Just a few weeks ago the annual conferences of the biblical studies societies were underway in New England. As I have posted about in the past, I have the pleasure of chairing the Septuagint Studies consultation at the annual conference of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS). We have a great team of doctoral students and scholars on the steering committee who are interested in promoting study of of the Septuagint in this venue.

Thus far, we’ve had some great success. In our first year as a consultation we had a stellar panel of presenters, and for that reason we had great turnout. You can read a review of last year’s session here. (more…)

LXX Scholar Interview – Dr. Ben Wright

Today I have another opportunity to feature an interview with a well-established Septuagint scholar. If you don’t already know, this is part of a larger running series of interviews that can be found here. This interview is with Dr. Benjamin G. Wright, who is University Distinguished Professor at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. Wright is well known among Septuagint scholars for many things, most recently his work on Aristeas, Sirach, and also as the co-editor of the New English Translation of the Septuagint (OUP 2007).
