Dr Vladimir Olivero, “The Text of the Septuagint”

This week Dr Vladimir Olivero will be giving an introduction to the text of the Septuagint: manuscripts, editions, textual families. The goal is to equip the audience with the basic tools to understand the textual history of the Septuagint and how to use the main reference works. Particular attention is devoted to the Pentateuch.

Vladimir Olivero is Preceptor in Classical Hebrew at the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and at Harvard Divinity School at Harvard University. He holds a BA and MA in Classics from the University of Milan, and MSt in Classical Hebrew Studies and a DPhil in Oriental Studies from the University of Oxford. His research focuses on Ancient Hebrew linguistics, textual criticism of the Hebrew Bible, the Septuagint, and their daughter versions.
